Colorado State Office <br />Soil Conservation Service <br />September 20, 1966 <br />STATUS OF PUBLIC LAW 566 ACTIVITIES - COLORADO <br />Small Watershed Program <br />1. <br />Sixty -five (65) local communities in collaboration with concerned <br />soil conservation <br />districts have requested <br />watershed project <br />assistance for watershed <br />protection and flood <br />prevention. <br />2. <br />Forty -eight watershed <br />project applications <br />for assistance have <br />been approved by <br />the State Soil Conservation <br />Board and forwarded <br />to the Secretary <br />of Agriculture. <br />3. <br />Twenty -three (23) <br />watershed projects have <br />been authorized for <br />planning assistance. <br />4. <br />The following 13 <br />watershed projects have been <br />authorized for <br />construction - construction <br />is complete on <br />the first 9 projects <br />listed: <br />Floodwater <br />Retarding <br />Project <br />County <br />Acres Dams <br />Big Sandy Creek <br />E1 Paso and Elbert <br />200,000 14 <br />Coalbank Creek <br />Weld <br />24,000 1 <br />Fishers Peak - <br />Carbon Arroyos <br />Las Animas <br />1,470 2 <br />Franktown- Parker <br />Douglas, Elbert and <br />176,640 23 <br />El Paso <br />Indian Wash <br />Mesa <br />9,640 1 <br />Limon <br />Lincoln and Elbert <br />9,870 3 <br />Roatcap Wash <br />Montrose <br />10,642 3 <br />West Cherry Creek <br />Douglas and El Paso <br />31,360 17 <br />Wray <br />Yuma <br />2,390 6 <br />
