Doydston, Jr. <br />SUBJECT: Meeting of January 8, 1959, with Kenneth Chalmers <br />and Ed McCrimmon, S. C. S. Re State Assistance to <br />S . C. S. <br />1. At a recent informal luncheon of Governor McNichols, <br />14:r. Sparks and Mr. Chalmers, it was agreed that the State of <br />Colorado could assist the S. C. S. in their preliminary inves- <br />tigation of desirable P. L. 566 projects. The meeting of Jan- <br />uary 8th was held to determine the present work load of S. C. S. <br />and what assistance was desired by Mr. Chalmers to enable the <br />S. C. S. to improve the construction progress of P. L. 566 <br />projects in Colorado. <br />2. Attached is a Status Report dated October 20, <br />1958, of Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Projects in <br />Colorado as prepared by S. C. S. On the sheet is checked five <br />proposed watershed projects which have progressed to the point <br />where only a limited amount of work is required before they <br />reach possible construction stage. Marked with an "X" are <br />three projects for which planning is approximately 50% com- <br />plete before they are ready for obtaining construction funds. <br />In addition applications for the following projects are ex- <br />pected in the very near future: <br />Fisher Peak Arroyo - near Trinidad <br />Crooked Arroyo - Rocky Ford <br />Crook (irrigation project) <br />Applications are being considered and should be forthcoming <br />in the future for the following projects: <br />Boxelder Creek <br />Bijou Creek <br />Boxelder (Larimer County) <br />McElmo Creek <br />Piciance Creek (Meeker) <br />Fortification Creek (Craig) <br />Hayden (Sand Creek <br />3. The S. C. S. has only one work unit in Colorado <br />and this unit is able to make preliminary investigations and <br />
