Subject: Proposal for ArcView 3D Analyst Development Applications and Training.
Dear Mr. Alvarado:
Brown and Caldwell is pleased to present this proposal to provide ArcView 3D Analyst
development applications and training for the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB),
hereinafter "Client."
PROPOSED SCOPE OF SERVICES
As we discussed, the scope of services to be performed by Brown and Caldwell include the
following three tasks.
Task 1— Develop 3D Visualization of a MODFLOW Groundwater Model
This task will consist of creating 3D displays in both static format and animated movie files of
a typical MODFLOW groundwater model. To use as a demonstration, the recent groundwater
model developed for the RGDSS will be utilized. Perspective views for each geologic layer in
the model will be created in jpg format with additional features displayed such as the river
and stream systems, major highways and the existing ground. Animated movie files of each
layer will be created in .avi format showing the viewer rotating around each layer. In addition,
cross-sections will be developed for both an east-west and north-south alignment. An
animated movie will be created showing the geologic formation of the groundwater model
both by rows and by columns. It is anticipated at this time that the first transient model for the
RGDSS groundwater model will be available for use in this task. Animated versions in both
�D and 3D will be developed displaying the reaction of the model over the 12 stress periods
of the transient run.
Bruce Rindahl of Brown and Caldwell will present the results of Task 1 to a public or CWCB
Board meeting to demonstrate the capabilities of 3D display of groundwater models and its
value to Decision Support Systems.
