Consultations <br />The incumbent routinely provides consultation regarding research objectives and <br />study design to biologists with state agencies, federal agencies, nonprofit <br />conservation organizations, and to students. Collectively, these activities represent <br />a major item on which he spends about 10% of his time. Involvement may range <br />from a telephone consultation regarding literature available on a specific topic or <br />a request for a scientific opinion regarding design of a study, to a one- or two -day <br />meeting with several biologists to discuss certain research approaches or establish <br />research needs and priorities. The items listed below serve as examples of major <br />consultation activities. <br />
