(Please include county, and approximate distance <br />and direction from the nearest town): <br />The Republican River Basin encompasses 24,900 square miles in northeastern Colorado and includes all or part of <br />seven counties: Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma. The major towns located <br />within the basin include Burlington, Eckley, Flagler, Idalia, Stratton, Wray, Yuma, and others. The primary rivers <br />j affected involve those cited specifically in the Republican River Compact: North Fork, South Fork, Arikaree, <br />Frenchman Creek, and Beaver Creek. <br />4, Please provide a brief narrative description of the proposed study or demonstration project including <br />purpose, need, and service area. Engineering analysis: forecast consumptive use for compact compliance; optimize surFace water and ground <br />', water retirement — temporary or permanent — within the Republican River Compact Administrarion modeL <br />'• Agricultural and Economic studies: mitigate impact to local economies; optimize short-term and long-term <br />' reveunues from local agricultural activity. <br />. Financial appraisals: establish equitable valuarions for 1, 3, 5, and 15-year leases and for land purchases. <br />.
