Evans
CWCB Director
Dan McAuliffe
Deputy Duector
I am pleased to confirm that at the November 1999 meeting of the Colorado
Water Conservation Board, we decided to recommend a grant of $100,000 to the Douglas
County Water Resources Authority to assist in the costs of the South Metro Water Supply
Study. The Board's recommendation for a$100,000 grant will be included in the year
2000 funding bill for Colorado Water Conservation Board projects and is subject to
authorization by the General Assembly.
It is our understanding that the grant proceeds will be used to support the proposal
outlined in your letter to me of November 5, 1999. We ask that you provide us with a
plan of study to include a final scope of work, a budget and a schedule for the study.
Please coordinate with Mike Serlet and Bill Green regarding the plan of study, the
progress of the study, our review of study work products and the approval of grant
payments ta the Douglas County Water Resources Authority.
Following legislative authorization, we will be able to enter into a contract with
the Authority for the grant. The contracting process generally takes about two months;
please coordinate with Jan Illian regarding contracting procedures.
We believe that the South Metro Water Supply Study represents a highly
responsible approach to planning for regional water supply development and a process
that encourages a spirit of cooperation between some of the state's major water supply
entities. We look forward to participating in this very important effort.
' cerely,
l iViwa..
Peter H.
