Statements and resolutions concerning construction of <br />Narrows Dam (Opposing) <br />Date Town or Organization Remarks <br />Septa 10 1948 Eldon Martin Burlington Railroad will <br />(Burlington Railroad) oppose relocation of the <br />Union Pacific which would <br />invade territory now ser- <br />ved exclusively by the <br />Burlington. <br />June 6, 1949 Brush Civic Club, Brush, 6,000 acres of land in <br />(Dec. 3, 1951) Colorado Morgan County inundated, <br />4,000 acres deprived of <br />satisfactory market. <br />Loss of taxes and revenue <br />to the county. Weldona, <br />Goodrich, and Orchard <br />plus 60 farmers will be <br />forced to evacuate. En- <br />tire project detrimental <br />to social and economic <br />interests of the county. <br />June 7, 1951 Associated Ditches Approved channel reser- <br />voir at a location that <br />will control Bijou Creek. <br />All present ditch and re- <br />servoir decrees must be <br />fully protected as well <br />as refill rights. Weldon <br />Valley water should become <br />a part of the river. <br />June 18, 1951 Upper Platte and Beaver Loss of taxes and lass of <br />Canal Company water which farmers have <br />been receiving from small <br />floods. <br />July 23, 1951 R. P. Culverwell Favors building of Two <br />(Henrylyn Irrig. Dist.) Forks and Chatfield. <br />Sept. 8, 1951 Johnson- Edwards Canal Approved channel reser- <br />voir at a location that <br />will control Bijou Creek. <br />All present ditch and re- <br />servoir decrees must be <br />fully protected as well <br />as refill rights.
