.1994 <br />Managing The State's Floodplains Through "CWCB Partnerships" <br />Through partnerships between the CWCB staff and these agencies and entities, Colorado has: <br />• Improved management of the state's flood hazard areas through effective use of federal, state, local <br />and private project dollars in identified floodplains, <br />• Designated and approved 442 floodplain studies on 16,000 miles of streams so that Colorado <br />communities can better manage the state's natural floodplains, <br />• Developed a plan for designation and approval of 106 additional floodplain studies not yet reviewed <br />• Insured that mortgage dollars, when spent in floodplain areas, are covered against by flood <br />insurance, <br />• Promoted non - structural approaches for dealing with flood hazards, <br />• Made flood insurance available in Colorado's 223 NFIP.communities, and <br />• Assisted non- participating communities in joining the NFIP <br />
