1993 <br />CWCB Floodplain Management Programs <br />INFORMATION: <br />Flood Hazard Identification and Designation: This element addresses the identification and <br />designation of the State's 100 -year floodplains. Duties include the performance of floodplain studies and <br />designation and the approval of floodplain delineations. This responsibility allows Colorado <br />communities to adopt legally enforceable floodplain information for regulatory purposes. <br />See 37- 60- 106(c) and 24 -65.1 -403 (3) (a) & (b). <br />Development of Technical Standards: This element assures that reasonably uniform standards are <br />applied to the identification and designation of all floodplains within Colorado. <br />See 24- 65.1403 (3) (a). <br />Technical Information Support System: This element assures that technical information and data <br />(maps, profiles, HEC -2 computer runs, etc.) are supplied to entities such as the engineering community, <br />appraisers, property owners, governmental agencies and mortgage lenders. <br />See 37 -60 -106 (d). <br />Public Education: This element assures that information and data concerning administration of the <br />NFIP and floodplain management, in general, are conveyed to the public -at -large and that presentations <br />are made to schools, communities, professional groups, etc., as requested. <br />See State - Executive Order 8504. <br />ACTION: <br />Community Assistance: This element assures that the CWCB provides technical assistance and <br />information to Colorado's NFIP participating communities and to those that wish to join the.NF1P. <br />See State Executive Order 8504. <br />Coordination of CWCB- Sponsored Flood Related Programs: This element addresses the <br />coordination by the CWCB of flood related programs carries out by other agencies. <br />See 2¢65.1 -403 (3) (a) and 37 -60 -06 (t). <br />Emergency Response: This element entails the CWCB working with the Corps of Engineers, OEM, <br />SCS, DOLA, DWR, CDOT, NWS, FEMA, local governments and the Governor's Office for Advanced <br />Measures, Flood Fights and Post Flood Recovery Operations. <br />See 37-60 -106 (d). <br />Flood Hazard Reduction: This element addresses the reduction of the exposure of people and property <br />to flood hazards. The Flood Section provides technical assistance and design_ and construction <br />coordination to communities who need to pursue structural and non - structural measures to reduce flood <br />hazards. <br />See 37 -60 -106 (d). <br />
