MR. D. MILLER: MR. BARKLEY: MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "I move we recess for lunch." "Unitl 1 :30? We'll recess then until 1:30." The meeting reconvened at 1:45 P. M. and was called to order by the Chairman. MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "When we recessed for lunch there seemed to be a little confusion among the representatives of the Bureau of Reclamation as to what line they should follow as the next step in their studies. I am wondering whether any of the members of the steer- ing committee has any concrete suggestions at this time as to how the Bureau should be advised as to the wishes of the steering committee." MR. BARKLEY: "Mr. Chairman." MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "Mr. Barkley." MR. BARKLEY.- "I think I probably ought to make a comment or two in advance since I stated this morning that I couldn't see how we could proceed on this main stream without getting into tributary considerations at some later time and I agree with Mr. Knights that this gets very complex if you go on and on. You have to stop some where. At the same time I think the real question involved here, in the dis- cussion by principally the people that are down- stream, who might be the potential beneficiaries below any channel reservoir on the Platte, as well as some of the irrigation systems upstream, have one particular, primary question in mind that it seems should be answered.
