consideration of retention of Bijou flows by
diversion into the Narrows site? You see, what
happens there, I believe, is that if we drop the
Hoyt and Wiggins out of consideration in the
Narrows we have eliminated a cost. We have auto-
matically then taken on an unknown problem in silt
accumulation and streambed aggradation below the
mouth of the Bijou with the Weld County situation.
With the Narrows situation that sediment problem
is taken care of by providing storage capacity
for sediments in the Narrows Reservoir and you
do not have the river situation in the channel
below.
So my question is, if you eliminate Bijou
consideration in the main stem, do we eliminate
it entirely ?"
MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "It's 12:15. Does the committee feel that
there is a necessity fcr continuing this session
after lunch? Does the Bureau feel that they have
direction as to what their studies should be in
the near future ?"
MR. KNIGHTS:
"You wouldn't joke, would you Bob ?"
MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "As far as those two points are concerned I
believe that you understand what the members of
the committee would like to know - the exchange
possibilities and the service possibilities in
these two sites."
MR. KNIGHTS: "Speaking from my own personal understanding
I would say no, we have, at this moment, no real
basis for going ahead with studies of any sort.
I'd refer the question also to Joe who has been
prosecuting the whole investigation and if he
feels that he now has a clear cut mandate on how
to proceed, why - here's the microphone, Joe."
MR. BARRETT; "It would be a whole lot easier for me to
sell the idea of further studies, if that's the
decision, to Jim Knights and the Director and the
Commissioner if this committee would take some
definite action on it and say definitely, by reso-
lution, that they do want some further information
or they don't want some further information."
0210
