that we might be in, in limiting ourselves to the
main stream.
I think the primary point at the commencement
of this study was that $100,000 was made available
by the state and the Bureau had some $300,000.
This purportedly was usable over a two -year period
and to go to the extent of tributary studies as
well would extend both the time and the money.
This is a very minor consideration in my view.
We've been irrigating here in the Platte Valley
for a hundred years. We haven't arrived at a
solution for the valley as a whole as yet. One
more year of study and another $100,000 or what-
ever it takes to do an integrated, comprehensive
job between the tributaries and the main stem is
the position that I took on this committee at the
first meeting and still retain it.
Most certainly I would agree with the thought
Mr. Ross expressed that as far as a specific
position on reservoir sites as between the Weld
County and Narrows is concerned, I'do not believe
that the entire answer is contained in the site
report other than a comparison of the two physi-
cal sites. Thus I don't see how we can decide
on location until we know what can be done in the
way of upstream storage and the exchange poten-
tials that are not only available at Two Forks but
on the reservoir storage that might be compre-
hended in tributaries such as the Cache la Poudre,
St. Vrain or others.
Consequently I go back to the view that if
we are going to do this job, and do it right,
after having experienced irrigation for a century,
we'd better take a long look at the whole thing
while we're at it. Maybe it will take another
year and another couple of $100,000's but that's
pretty small peanuts when we're playing with the
size and potential of the valley that we are
talking about."
MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "Thank you. Do you have any comments on the
report, Mr. Slizeski ?"
-13-
