I Y
understand that that is correct. I would assume
that as hydraulic studies are made the added
feature of high storage might reveal the extent
to which exchange potential would be increased in
the area noted as a critical area between the two
reservoir sites, as being a very important addi-
tion to the project.
Denver stands ready and willing to do what-
ever it can to assist in this part of the study.
I think our position would be with regard to one
or the other of these two alternate sites, if we
can so direct the studies as to find out the real
extent to which an exchange potential exists in
the area between Weld County and Narrows with the
addition of a Two Forks reservoir, we would be in
better position to say from a benefit or irriga-
tion standpoint, which one we might be interested
in supporting."
MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "Thank you. Mr. Barkley, do you have any com-
ments on the site selection report of the Bureau
of Reclamation in which the Bureau recommends that
the Narrows Reservoir, and the Bijou Creek control
works associated with it, be selected now as the
plan for downstream storage ?"
MR. BARKLEY: "Yes. First of all I should apologize to you,
Mr. Chairman, for missing the first few minutes
of this meeting. I haven't heard in full all of
the comments that were made thus far although I
think I fully understand the presentation Mr.
Osborne was making at the time I arrived.
The things that have been said by Mr. Sarchet,
Mr. Davis, Jack Ross, brings me back to the first
meeting of this committee at which time Mr. Sparks
indicated that the intent of this overall study was
to be to the main channel of the Platte
River, and the facilities that might thereon be
built, to carry out a comprehensive use plan for
the Platte. I expressed the opinion at that time
that I could not see how we could isolate and
leave out a study of all of the primary tributaries
starting with the Cache la Poudre, the Big Thompson,
the St. Wain and others of the big upper fan of
the Platte River without compromising the position
-12-
