- 2 - <br />Statements were made by representatives of Region 7,. Bureau of <br />Reclamation, concerning the plans for the project, including its <br />operational plans, and supplemental surveys and investigations <br />on the project which had been undertaken and which were desired by <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the locally affected <br />interests. Before the meeting closed, a vote disclosed that all <br />except two of the persons present favored the construction of the <br />project and the plan of operation. <br />On motion, it was agreed that the Director and the Consulting <br />Engineer prepare a report for the Board, pointing out the different <br />factors of the Narrows project, including its purposes and <br />benefits; that a meeting of the Board be held after the report <br />was prepared to consider its comments to Region 7 on the project <br />report; and that such a meeting be scheduled for three days; one <br />day to be devoted to a trip into the area for the purpose of <br />viewing the dam and reservoir site, the area which will be inundated <br />by storage in the reservoir, and at least a portion of the area <br />below the location of the dam; one day to be devoted to hearing a <br />limited number of proponents and opponents of the project; and a <br />third day to be devoted to consideration by the Board for the <br />formulation of its comments. <br />August 8, 1952 <br />Director Stone called attention to the motion adopted at <br />the last meeting of the Board regarding the three day meeting to <br />consider the Narrows matter, and explained the reasons for delay <br />in scheduling this meeting.
