They then tweak them to
improve the course and ensure there are no safety
issues.
The town budgeted $20,000 to tweak the park this
summer. That work will include rebuilding 80
percent of a structure in the first phase and
modifying the faces of three other structures to
provide a better whitewater experience.
In the second phase, eight large boulders need to be
reset, and one structure's face must be modified.
The cost of that tweaking is estimated to be
$18,150, which is $1,850 below the budget for
course modifications.
But now, the town must come up with more money
to repair damage found last month.
!Mountain Biking
in The Rockies?
Frier Pack N Ship
fn tm hout of Sum m k Gourrty Arthaftid
,
Contact Us At
970
or
www.FriscopacknsNp.com
Town staff knew of one feature that needed to be repaired near the north -end pool by Valley I
But during a recent tour of the park, they were surprised to find two other features had been sf
damaged by erosion of the east bank of the river on which they are built, town manager Tim (
Wedding Ideas
"The dirt is looser, not like the harder rock we usually encounter," he said of the embankment
Community
the whitewater park wasn't there, we would probably experience something like that in higher
Scenic Photos
in the whitewater park, where water is concentrated in higher volumes, (the erosion) began sh
NEWSPAPERS
quicker than it would have in a more natural state."
Aspen Times
Citizen Telegram
Repair estimates won't be known until about halfway through the work, open space and trails
Leadville Chronicle
Heide Andersen said.
