HB 06 -1208 CONCERNING SPECIAL COMPENSATION TO PROPERTY OWNERS WHOSE <br />PROPERTY HAS BEEN TAKEN THROUGH EXERCISE OF THE POWER OF EMINENT DOMAIN. <br />• Sponsors: Lundberg, Mitchell <br />Summary: Requires "bonus" payments to landowners in condemnation in addition to the fair market <br />value paid. <br />Analysis: Since the bill only provides for a 25 -100% "bonus" payment in addition to fair market value <br />whenever property is acquired by condemnation, it ensures that all such acquisitions will be adversary <br />with attendant costs of appraisal and legal proceedings borne by the acquiring agency. <br />Status: Passed House State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee. When we pointed this out to him, he agreed to <br />kill this bill and work with interested parties . for a properly drafted bill for next year.
