I'would rather they <br />speak to the bill in its present form since this is <br />the departure point at which a lot of the opinions <br />are formed with or without the possession of all the <br />facts. <br />Bishop Okay. If that is it, I will proceed with the people <br />who have signed up to testify to this bill. <br />Christopher Meyer, will you join us at the table and <br />identiFy. yourself and who you represent please. <br />Meyer Mr. Chairman, my name is Christopher Meyer and I <br />represent the Natio ^al Wildlife Federation. I am an <br />attorney for that organization which has a field <br />office in Boulder, Colorado. I am here also today on <br />behalf of a Colorado woman who is with our I <br />would like to begin by saying something good about <br />the Colorado in-stream flow program. A number of <br />Years ago it might have been said that there was a <br />diametrical. opposition between the interest of <br />traditional western water law and the interests of <br />conservation. That can no longer be said in the <br />state of Colorado; in fact, I think the state of <br />Colorado has been the leader in giving accomodation <br />for conservation concerns. As Senator McCormick <br />Pointed out, there are now over a thousand instream <br />Flow water rights covering over six thousand miles, <br />but that said I want to say that Senator McCo rmick <br />-7- <br />
