As the flows <br />increase these structures constrict and accelerate the water often creating strong eddy lines <br />below the structures and a mid -stream wave train that , provides a venue for surfing and trick <br />maneuvers for experienced paddlers. In fact, these structures primarily function the best at high <br />flwAr rates. The angle of the deflectors and slope of the riverbed can be used to direct the flow <br />and wave train in order to ensure that the powerful flows are directed in an appropriate <br />direction.
