Another structure featured in the Gunnison Whitewater Park is the Offset Double <br />Deflector (ODD). The ODD is designed to constrict and direct the flow. Figure 5 shows a top <br />view of a typical ODD: <br />Figure 5. Top view of offset double deflector <br />The offset double deflector is made from similar materials and construction methods as <br />the U- structure. The structure is constructed from interlocked rock and is grouted if needed. A <br />rock base is sunk into the riverbed below the scour level for support and erosion protection. <br />The ODD is typically terraced to provide similar flow control properties to the U- structure. <br />The deflectors are set apart such that the first level of terrace bounds the low flow channel. <br />Subsequent levels of the ODD bound higher flow channels in a similar manner to the U- <br />structure without significantly reducing the capacity of the riverbed.
