The Town of Castle Rock is requesting $31,875 to create a Virtual
Water Conservation Tour Website, which will promote water conservation while providing
specific and detailed information on indoor and outdoor water saving products and practices.
A Virtual Water Conservation Tour Website has been identified as a priority in the Town of
Castle Rock's Water Conservation Plan. The grant monies will assist the Town of Castle Rock in
implementing a comprehensive website that will provided detailed information, including real
time local weather with irrigation recommendations, plant lists, water saving practices as they
apply to each part of the home, and information of resources available to residents, such as
rebates. This vastly improved site will serve to educate the service area on the importance of
water conservation, and is part of the town's goal to reduce average water consumption by 18%
over 5 years. This project will serve not only the Castle Rock customers but also provide a
service to the general public and will be designed to serve as a template for other utilities in the
state seeking to improve their websites.
The Town of Castle Rock has pledged 52% matching funds in the form of cash and in -kind
services. The OWCDP staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has
determined that the proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant
proposals. Attached is the internal checklist used to evaluate the application.
Water Supply Protection • Watershed Protection & Flood Mitigation • Stream & Lake Protection • Water Supply Planning & Finance
Water Conservation & Drought Planning • Intrastate Water Management & Development
