Mr. J. Eric Holgerson Page 2
July 17, 2008
is in your best interest to operate and maintain the facility in a manner such that the safety of the dam
and the general public are not jeopardized.
Presently it is planned to rehabilitate and enlarge this dam to 250 AF with preliminary work
occurring next year after the reservoir is drained this fall and then the actual dam enlargement work
occurring in 2010. You must engage a professional engineer registered in the State of Colorado with
dam design and construction experience to prepare plans and specifications for this work. The design
and construction documents need to be submitted in a timely manner for our review in order for the
work to be performed in 2010. Similar submittals are also required to allow storage even if it is
decided to not enlarge the dam. Upon approval of the plans and specifications and completion of the
construction, this office will make a final inspection. After the construction has been inspected and
found satisfactory, the storage restriction will be lifted.
We will appreciate your cooperation in this matter and ensuring that a safe structure to store
water at this site is achieved. Should you have any questions please contact John G. Blair in our
Glenwood Springs office at (970) 945-5665, ext 5016.
~.
Sincerely,
I' ^ ~~
ic olfe, P.E.
Director and State Engineer
Enclosures: Inspection report and pictures
xc: Alan Martellaro, Division Engineer (with enclosures)
Scott Hummer, Water Commissioner (with enclosures)
John G.
