The UAWCD's <br />project involves a joint UAWCD-U.S. Geological Service (USGS) hydrologic water balance <br />study. The phased study begins in Chaffee County and eventually covers four Arlcansas <br />headwaters counties: Lal.e, Chaffee, Fi•emont, and Custer. <br />Pogulation gi•owth for the Uppei• Ai•lcansas <br />headwaters region is anticipated to be 72% from <br />2000 to 2030, according to a Statewide Water <br />Supply Iilitiative (SWSI) Arlcansas Basin 2006 <br />Pact Sheet. The Colorado Stale Demography <br />Office projects tliat the foui• counties in the study <br />area will increase in population fi-ou160°10 <br />(Fremont) to 160% (Lake).
