In order to survey at streamflows below those occurring natu-
rally, diversions to side channels were made at Station I on Sweetwater
. Creek and Station VIII on the South Fork. Flows were reduced in succes-
sive intervals to as little as 7 c.f.s. and 8 c.f.s, respectively. This
necessitated digging channels through natural gravel bars, and the con-
struction of temporary rock, brush, and log dams. The application of
irrigating canvas to the upstream face of the dams was very helpful in
accomplishing these diversions.
