Green River hydrograph and thermograph as recorded by the USGS at their Near
Green River, Ut site (No. 091315000), 1994 and 1995.
The San Rafael River is also dominated by large fluctuations in water discharge. Unlike the Green
River where peak flow is usually associated with peak snow melt, the smaller San Rafael can
often peak as result of stone events. The mean daily discharge, in cubic feet per second, varied
from .25 in July 1994 to 65.8 in October 1993 (water year extends from Oct. to Sept.) and 18.4 in
April 1995 to 764 in July 1995. The specific conductance also varies greatly, however, overall it
tends to be very high. Extremes for 1994 ranged from a minimum of 1200 microsiemens to a
maximum of 6300 microsiemens, and extremes for 1995 ranged from a minimum of 690
microsiemens to a maximum of 4300 microsiemens. Due to the high conductivity electrofishing
has not been effective, limiting adult razorback sucker sampling in the San Rafael River.
DRAFT 5
