51 <br />Colorado and Gunnison Rivers <br />Sam lin Schedule <br />Field investigatons on the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers were initiated <br />July 20 and continued until November 4, 1979. During 1979 sampling was. <br />conducted only during the post-runoff river stage. Field work for the <br />Grand Junction station was divided into a systematic sampling program <br />and special investigations. <br />Systematic Sampling Program <br />The 1979 systematic program was responsible for studying approximately <br />255 miles of the Colorado River between Debeque, Colorado and Lake <br />Powell and 37 miles of the Gunnison River between Dominguez and Grand <br />Junction, Colorado. Nine randomly-selected river strata containing 17 <br />intensive study sections were each visited once during the period Table -- <br />3 <br />11, Figure 1). <br />Special Investigations <br />Two special study sections, Walter Walker Wildlife Area (WWWA) and Black <br />Rocks, were sampled two and three times, respectively. Effort was also <br />expended in capturing endangered fish brood stock for the hatchery-lab <br />phase of the project. The three to four man field crew spent approximately <br />one quarter of the field time on special studies, 68 mandays out of 246 <br />mandays.
