C-? 9qO <br />• <br />PROPAGATioN' PROGRAM <br />a <br />The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has drafted a policy for the <br />development, implementation, and evaluation of Controlled Propagation <br />Programs of imperiled species. It is designed to ensure that all pertinent <br />issues are addressed in a standard process. To aid in the implementation <br />of this draft policy, Region 6 Fisheries has developed a' series ©f <br />guidelines which will be used in the development of specific section:: <br />(1) fish health management, (2) broodstock development and propagation, <br />(3) introductions, (4) monitoring, and (5) disposal. The guidelines are <br />intended to provide minimum standards for completing the planning <br />process for a propagation program. <br />The sections will be consolidated to make up the propagation plan. The <br />final plan will be subject to extensive review both internally and by our <br />partners. It will be necessary to conduct internal section 7 consultation <br />and meet all NEPA requirements (Environmental Assessment). The final <br />propagation plan will require Regional Director approval before it is <br />implemented. <br />is
