VI. CONCLUSIONS

The goal of Preserve management is to enhance all values of the ,
flooded bottomland and have it function as naturally as possible.
The Preserve may be suitable as flooded bottomland habitat for
the recovery of the razorback sucker based on the information

presented in this plan. However, more investigations of '
razorback sucker habitat and life history are needed. The
approach for enhancing the natural functions of the flooded
bottomlands within the Preserve is broad-based and phased to '
accommodate gaps in the knowledge of razorback sucker natural
history and the functions of flooded bottomlands. The Preserve
will serve as an experimental setting for recovery efforts.

Knowledge gained during the process can be applied to other '
recovery sites and to a long range plan for the Preserve recovery
program. ,

33
