5.0 WINTER RIVERINE CONDmONS

This section describes air and water temperatures, and ice conditions for the v.inter of 1993-94. A definition
of ice types and description of formation is provided in the Glossary. Detailed descriptions of ice formation
and ice processes is included in the Winter Synthesis Report.

5.1 AIR AND WATER TEMPERATURES

Air temperatures during the winter of 1993-94 were unusually warm. Monthly maximum air temperatures near
Jensen, UT for December through February were 2.9 to 9.0 oC above normal, while monthly minimum
temperatures were 2.9 to 4.9 oC above normal. Figure 4 is a comparison of monthly maximum and minimum
air temperatures compared to normal mean temperatures near Jensen, UT.
