.

.

DRAFT

ACKtUn.EDGEMENI

BIOjWEST would like to recognize and thank the following people for thei r
participation in the project: Mr. Bob Williams was the Contract Officer's
Technical Representative for the BOR and provided much valuable administrative
and technical assistance. Ms. Sharon Tully, also from the BOR, assisted in the
field work during the first phase of the project, which involved electrofishing
and radiotagging fish within the whitewater portions of the study area. Mr.
Mike Pucherelli of the BOR provided aerial photographs of the river for habitat
mapping.

.

Dr. Harold Tyus, project leader for the FWS/CRFP, Vernal Station, was Technical
Field Liaison for this study. He provided much valuable technical assistance
on radiotelemetry, as well as personnel and equipment as needed. Ms. Lydia
Trinca of FWS provided technical assistance in the field and valuable logistic
support throughout the study. Ms. Kathy Paulin provided technical advise on
data collection and handling. Other FWS/CRFP personnel who assisted in
capturing and radiotagging fish during the first phase of the project include
Rex Roberg and Mike McCleod.

.

.

A large part of the study was conducted in Dinosaur National Monument. We wish
to thank Superintendent Dennis Huffman of the National Park Service, as well as
Mr. Steve Petersburg, for their logistic support, access to field facilities,
and granting of scientific collecting and boating permits. Also we would like
to thank personnel of the OUray National Wildlife Refuge, especially Refuge
Manager Dick Shoester, for their cooperation throughout the study, including
access to river launch sites.

.

Most of the winter tracking and habitat measurements were conducted by Mr. Bill
Masslich, Mr. Myron Chase, Mr. Larry Crist, and Mr. Glen Doster of BIOjWEST,
Inc. Sincere appreciation is extended to these individuals by the Principal
Investigator for their continued efforts during inclement weather and difficult
river conditions, and for their perseverance in gathering accurate information
on the winter habitat of these fish. Other BIOjWEST personnel involved in the
field work were Ron Ryel, Blaise Chanson, Bryan Cowdell, and Chris Donaldson.
Dr. Roy Hugie and Dr. Paul Holden were the principal pilots for aerial
telemetry. Their excellent skill and judgement enabled us to contact most fish
from the ai r and therefore, reduce our amount of ground search time. Also,
thei r experience with radiotelemetry was very valuable in establishing a
working aerial search routine.

.

.

.

.

.

i
