r a <br />STUDY AREA <br />Three criteria were used to select the trend zone areas for <br />study: 1) Colorado squawfish or humpback chubs must have <br />occurred in the area within the last 10 years; 2) the area <br />must be accessible to a field inventory crew; and, 3) the area <br />must be representative of other portions of the river. Five <br />trend zones are indicated on the contour maps in this report <br />(Figures 1-7) and are located as follows: <br />Yampa River: (S20, UN, R95W to S20, UN, R96W, 6th PM) <br />This area was 16 km long and located in Moffat County between <br />Maybell and Sunbeam, Colorado (Figure 1); <br />White River: (S6, TIN, R46W to S18, T2N, R98W, 6th PM) <br />This area was also 16 km long and was located in Rio Blanco <br />County between Rio Blanco Lake and the County Road 65 bridge <br />(Figure 4); <br />Colorado River: (S3, T1S, R2E to S23, T1S, R1E, Ute PM) <br />This area was approximately 12 km long and was located in <br />Mesa County between Palisade and Clifton, Colorado (Figure 5); <br />Gunnison River: (S14, T2S, R1E to S35, T1S, R1W, Ute PM) <br />This trend zone was about 19 km long and located in Mesa County <br />between Whitewater and the diversion dam at Redlands, Colorado <br />(Figure 5); <br />3
