r a <br />JOB PROGRESS REPORT <br />State of Colorado <br />Project No: SE - 3 - 2 <br />Work Plan No: 1 <br />Endangered Wildlife Investigations <br />Job No: 1 <br />Job Title: Colorado squawfish and humpback chub population <br />and habitat monitoring <br />Period Covered: October 1, 1978 to September 30, 1979 <br />Personnel: David Langlois, Tom Lytle, Charles Haynes, <br />Robin Knox, John Torres, Edmund Wick, Darrel Snyder <br />R M C T n A f -r <br />Fishes were collected in five endangered fishes trend zone <br />areas on the Colorado, Gunnison, White and Yampa Rivers. <br />Sampling was done with seines, dip nets and an electrofishing <br />boat from July through August, 1978. A total of 18,042 fishes <br />were processed from 269 collections at 57 sites. Native fishes <br />were better represented in all waters than during 1977. In all, <br />18 endangered fishes were collected from the Yampa, Colorado <br />and Gunnison Rivers. Both Colorado squawfish and humpback chubs <br />were captured. These two species apparently are sympatric in <br />parts of the Colorado River. <br />1
