1889 with an account of the fishes found HISTORX
in each of the river basins examined. U. DISTRIBUTION
S. Fish Commission Bulletins 9(1889):1-40.
This report is on a series of examinations of
the different streams of Colorado and Utah.
This examination had two general purposes:
first, to ascertain the general character of
the streams of the Rocky Mountains and the
Great Basin, their present stock of food fishes,
and their suitability for the introduction of
species not now found there; second, to catalog
the fishes native to each stream, whether food-
fishes or not, in order to increase our knowledge
of the geographical distribution of each species
and to throw further light on the laws which
govern geographical distribution. This paper
gives an account of each stream, a list of the
fishes found in it, and such notes, geographical
or economic, which may add to the knowledge of
it.
196.
