<br />b. Dolores Project <br /> <br />Construction of the Pleasant View - Ruin Canyon - Hovenweep <br />pumping plants and laterals was completed in 1990. Construction of <br />Dove ereek Canal, Reach Three is substantially complete. <br /> <br />A $19.3 million contract for the construction of Reach One of the <br />Towaoc eanal was awarded on September 11, 1989. It will include <br />construction of approximately 8.8 miles of canal with an additional 2.7 <br />miles of pipe laterals. Construction is scheduled for completion in April <br />of 1992. <br /> <br />A $14.5 million contract for construction ofT owaoc Canal Reach Two <br />was awarded on July 24,1990. Work includes construction of approxi- <br />mately 11.2 miles of canal with associated control and delivery features. <br />Construction will be completed by January of1993. <br /> <br />The Towaoc Canal is designed to serve the Ute Mountain Ute Indian <br />tribal lands southwest of Cortez, Colorado along with the Montezuma <br />Valley Irrigation Company. The canal will also help to reduce salinity by <br />replacing the existing Lower Hermana Lateral, the Highline Ditch and <br />the Rocky Ford Ditch. The canal will be constructed in three reaches. <br /> <br />A $5.9 million contract was awarded on May 3, 1989 to install the <br />turbine and generator of the Towaoc Powerplant. The contract calls for <br />complete installation and testing of the power plant equipment by June <br />ofl992. A $14.4 million contract was awarded on September 6, 1990 for <br />construction of the power plant building and penstock. Towaoc Powerplant <br />will have an installed capacity of 11.4 MW and will generate an estimated <br />30,300,000 kilowatt-hours during each irrigation season from April to <br />October. Power will be used for irrigation pumping on the Dolores <br />Project. Any excess power will be combined with other CRSP power to <br />be marketed by W AP A. <br /> <br />A $2.6 million construction contract for the McPhee Dam Powerplant <br />was awarded on May 29, 1990, with completion scheduled in 1992. The <br />plant will have a capacity of 1.35 MW. <br /> <br />A $5.2 million contract to construct Dove ereek Pumping Plant in <br />Cross Canyon and Monument ereek lateral systems was awarded on <br />February 15, 1990. The contract is scheduled for completion by <br />September 30,1992. <br /> <br />42 <br />
