-38-
2. The project will greatly increase the potential
for winter depredation by elk and deer on privately-
owned lands in both States inevitably leading to
pressure on the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the
. Wyoming Game and Fish Department to reduce their
numbers by approximately 3,000 head.
~ 3. The project will destroy or significantly reduce the
value of critical winter range resulting in the
loss of 25 percent of the antelope in Colorado's
IGlanagement ITnit A-3 (approximately 1,250 animals).
4. The project will eliminate 7 percent of Colorado's
sage grouse (approximately 4,800 birds) by destroying or
significantly reducing the value of breeding, nesting,
early brood rearing and critical wintering habitat. An
~ additional 1,600 sage grouse will be lost in the Wyoming
portion of the project area.
~ 5. There appear to be no feasible means or measures by which
these losses can either be prevented or even substantially
offset.
