E`~y~~.~, :~0~ We have reviewed the draft of the Colorado Squawfish Recovery Plan (Your ref: FA/SE Colorado River Fishes Recovery Team) and wish to - compliment the team for presenting the information in a very , concise and readable manner. The biological soundness of the report will help insure actions to restore this interesting species to a point in time that it can once again play its role in the Colorado River system and be available for many uses on a sustained yield basis. , We would like to request some administrative additions which could facilitate the role of the Forest Service in these efforts in Region 3 (Arizona and New Mexico). USFS 5,000 231 USFS 5,000 , Some of these tasks, such as the habitat requirement studies, may be done by the Rocky Mountain Forest and Range Experiment Station, Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Tempe, Arizona. Dr. David R. Patton is directing a project titled "Habitat Criteria Development for Southwestern Wildlife," which focuses on the riparian ecosystem and those endangered species dependent upon the ecosystem. Species included are the threatened Apache trout, endangered Gila trout, Squawfish, woundfin, Gila topminnow, Southern bald eagle, American peregrine falcon, and the Yuma clapper rail. This project has now been expanded and is titled "The Western Riparian Research Effort." 1 6200-11 (169)
