1
Pages 26-28, Proposed Budget - The Bureau of Reclamation is
prepared to fund specific habitat requirement studies. It
is our intention to enter into studies which would, in part, ,
respond to the primary goal to restore and maintain self-
J-5 sustaining population of Colorado squawfish to nonendangered
status in their native ecosystem. Specifically, we refer to
Sections 1, 11, 111, 1111 on determining chemical character-
istics of water. We would hope to fund studies on limiting
salinity concentrations; however, funding, as presented in
the proposed budget, should only be considered FWS's recom-
mendation and no inference that the designated agencies are
in agreement or have approved or adopted the obligation.
By this letter, we are requesting that all funding shown for the Bureau
of Reclamation be deleted except for the habitat requirement studies.
We appreciate very much the opportunity to comment on the Recovery
Plan. If you have any questions on our comments, please do not hesi-
tate to call on us,
n~__ ~
s~A~- ~

3 ~
