It was abundant enough to be collected by the vaagon-load fr.am canals and the Salt River near Phoenix, Arizona (Miller 1961; Ellison 1980). Concent.ration:~ of this species in the lower basin we1~e repor_ed -until the early 1950s (Moff_ett 1942; ~da.llis 1951; Douglas 1952; Jonez and Sumner 1954), after vahich they declined precipitously.
