The dam's crest is approximately 3,000 feet long, the crest width is
sixteen (16) feet with upstream and downstream slopes of approximately 2.5:1 and 2.0:1,
respectively. Milton Reservoir is fed by the Beebe Seep Canal from the south and the Platte
Valley Canal from the west. The reservoir has an approximate storage capacity of 32,300
acre-feet at the emergency spillway crest and 44,122 acre-feet at the dam crest.
Barr Lake Dam is also an earthfill structure built similarly to Milton in the early 1900's. It has
a dam crest of approximately 7,100 feet with ,approximately 2.0:1 upstream and
downstream slopes. Barr Lake reservoir is fed by the O'Brian Canal. Barr Lake has a
maximum normal operating volume of approximately 32,600 acre-feet. Barr's capacity is
approximately 40,500 acre-feet and 47,100 acre-feet at its emergency spillway crest and
dam crest, respectively.
4
