ELECTION OF THE 2000 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: <br />Director Fender made the motion that the following directors serve as the Executive Committee for <br />the 2000 vear. <br />Chairman Jim Powers <br />Steve Bolinger <br />J. Robert Tuck <br />C. Steve Treadway <br />Kenneth G. Crandall <br />Director Shimamoto seconded the motion which passed unanimouslv. <br />LEGISLATIVE BUSINESS: <br />Director Rinaldo reminded the Directors that the Winter Convention of the Colorado Water <br />Congress will be held the 27`hand 286'of January. Directors Rinaldo and Crandall as well as <br />Manager Schott will be attending the convention. <br />Director Fender made the motion that the District purchase a copv of the 1999 video presentation by <br />Colorado Supreme Court Justice Greizory J. Hobbs. The title of the presentation is "Colorado <br />Water Law. An Historical Overview." In it, Justice Hobbs addresses the following: (1) Custom and <br />Necessity in the Colorado Territory; (2) Congressional Deference and the Colorado Constitution; (3) <br />Enduring and Evolving Principles of Beneficial Use; (4) Adjudication of Rights for Administration of <br />Priorities; (5) Changes of Water Rights; (6) Equitable Apportionment and Water Compacts; (7) <br />Integration of Federal Rights; (8) the Environment Era; and (9) Colorado Water Law. Cost for the <br />video is $60.00. Director Bolinger seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimouslv. <br />Director Crandall stated that Colorado Water Congress has moved. Their new address is as follows: <br />Colorado Water Congress <br />1580 Logan Street, Suite 400 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />The phone and fa.x numbers as well as the e-mail address have remained the same, however. <br />? Director Rinaldo also noted that Director Treadway will be receiving an award for Landowner of the <br />Year by the Wildlife Commission and the Division of Wildlife. He will be presented this award at the <br />National Western Stock Show. <br />Director Rinaldo and Manager Schott will be representing the District on Colorado Water Congress' <br />State Affairs Committee. Director Crandall stated that his term of office as a Director on the <br />Colorado Water Congress Board is up for reappointment. If anyone else would care to serve on the <br />CWC Board please let him know.
