,; <br />• Colorado Water Congress's Surnmer Convention will be held in Breckenridge, <br />August 23 - 25. The theme for this summer's convention will be "Water in the <br />Holy Land - Can We Learn from Water Planning in the Middle East". Any <br />Director who wishes to attend should contact District staff: <br />• Manager Frank was appointed ta the Colorado Water Congress Board of <br />Directors at the June 2, 2006 board meeting, replacing Director Crandall who <br />recently resigned after 18 years of service. <br />• Manager Frank noted that Technician Joey Willeke passed the well certification <br />class he attended in Alamosa on May 17 - 19t''. <br />• The Board authorized Manager Frank to request that the State Engineer's office <br />provide monthly diversion and water accounting records for other Districts within <br />Division l, simiiar to the standards that are required of District 1 and 64. <br />SOUTH PLATTE LOWER RIVER GROUP. INC.: <br />Manager Frank attended the Group's last meeting held on May 25th and noted that Alan <br />Berryman from Northern updated the Group on the 3-State's Agreement and Program. A final <br />Environmental Impact Statement and Biological Opinion have been formulated, paving the way <br />for a cooperative program to be agreed upon this fall barring any setbacks. <br />Manager Frank will be attending a South Platte Water Related Activities Program (SPWRAP) <br />meeting this Thursday, June 15" in Denver. The meeting places alternate monthly between <br />Northern's offices and Denver Water. Manager Frank noted the importance of Lower's <br />involvement in this program. <br />PUBLIC COMloJlENT: <br />Deb Carlstrom from Congresswoman Musgrave's office asked if the Board had any final <br />comments regarding the Narrows properry. The Directors noted that the Board passed a motion <br />on June 4, 1996 endorsing the de-authorization of the Narrows Project. The Board stressed again <br />that any sale of property should be available through a public auction for any/all prospective <br />buyers. <br />Ms. Carlstrom also distributed copies of a press release regarding Congresswoman Musgrave's <br />unsuccessful attempt to keep some 440 wells along the South Platte River from a state mandated <br />shut off. <br />OI.D BIJSIioTESS: None <br />-5-
