The coordinator will assist the ARWRF and the A-LJWCD <br />in seeing that the goals, objectives, tasks, and BMP's set by the ARWRP Committee and this <br />grant are achieved. <br />TASK No. 3. Project Administration: Retain a secretary to manage the basic paperwork <br />associated with the ARWRF, and to maintain proper financial accounting records. <br />GOAL 2: PUBLIC EDUCATION <br />Continue public education to inform the community about restoration efforts. <br />TASK No. 1. Field Tours: Conduct field tours of restoration sites for schools, individuals, and <br />groups. Improve landowner understanding of river processes and riparian area health. Involve <br />public policy makers in the project at the local and state levels. <br />TASK No. 2. Video and Power Point Presentations; Present the Alamosa River Restoration <br />video and the updated PowerPoint Presentation at meetings in the community and follow with <br />interactive question and answer session. <br />TASK No. 3. Publications: Continue to seek further exposure in local and statewide media <br />through press releases and radio talk shows. <br />GOAL 3: BEGIN RESTORATION <br />Complete a morphological assessment of the stream which will include detailed field surveys. <br />Document the present conditions of in-stream structures. Evaluate designs for irrigation <br />headgates, land, roads, and bridges which will fit within the guidelines of the restoration design. <br />TASK No. 1. Identify and Document River Features: Identify and document areas where the <br />river is constrained. Document specific locations along the Alamosa River where diversion <br />headgates, bridges, roads, property, and other structures have been damaged or are unusable. <br />Identify areas of active bank erosion and/or stream instability. Document existing conditions, <br />including baseline photographs. Gather testimony from the ditch companies, property owners, <br />and other project participants. <br />TASK No. 2. Conduct Field Surveys. Develop cross-sections and longitudinal profiles at <br />various locations along the river. Assess existing channel sinuosity and historic meander <br />patterns. Identify bankfull features in the field. Locate existing headgates, bridges, fence lines <br />etc. Compile field data in to a comprehensive GIS database and CAD based map of existing <br />conditions. <br />TASK No. 3. Design Plan: Complete design plans for the Alamosa River restoration work and <br />obtain necessary State, Federal and local permits to accomplish the construction work. <br />TASK No. 4. Rock Material: Secure a rock source in collaboration with the Rio Grande <br />National Forest. Hire a contracting firm to haul the material to the designated areas. <br />10 <br />
