l
A
Options will have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to insure consistency with Federal and '
State law, the purposes of the Program, and powers of local governments and other organizations.

2.1.4 Land Management Methods
Numerous land management methods and techniques identified in the Biology Work Group
Report (see Appendix 6.2) can be used to effectively restore and maintain threatened and
endangered species' habitats in the central Platte River area. Many of these land management
methods and techniques are presently used within the central Platte River area; however, there
has not been sufficient monitoring and evaluation of these methods and techniques to establish
conclusively their relative efficiencies and benefit to species. Such monitoring and evaluation
is integral to the land rnanagement recommendations (see Section 2.3).
Land management methods include the following:
Mechanical Clearing/Control
Prescribed Burns
Chemical Control
Regulated Grazing
Reduce Seed Souzces
Channel Alteration
Conversation of Agricultural Lands to Wet Meadows & Uplands
Change River Bank Elevation
Haying
These methods will be applied on a case-by-case basis as needed to implement the Program.
10
