Water <br />column invertebrates comprised a greater percentage of <br />invertebrates in the open water and alkali bulrush communities <br />and benthic invertebrates comprised a greater percentage in the <br />bulrush, backwater and river communities (Figure 18). In <br />general, water column invertebrates were abundant in the wetland <br />communities, but were nearly absent in backwater and river <br />34 <br />
