The recurrence of years with at least 5 days with flows
equal to or exceeding 20,000 cfs was 1.6 years, while since 1963
it is 7.8 years. Flaming Gorge removes the largest flows.
.~
3S
30
(n
Q 25
L.~
~ 20
d'
W
m
~ 15
Z
l0
GREEN RIVER AT JENSEN
DAYS OVER 20. 000 CFS

1917 1952 1957 1962 1967 1972 1977 1982 1967 1992
WATER YEAR
Figure 5. Number of days per water year with flows equal to or
exceeding 20,000 cfs.
Figure 6 is a set of regression equations which represent
the relationship between total annual flow in acre feet and
maximum May and June flows, in cfs, at Jensen. The period of
record was divided into two data sets, the period 1946-1962, and
the period 2963-1993. The first 16 years represents the period
of record prior to the closing of Flaming Gorge Reservoir, while
the last 31 years represent the modern Green River.
11
