Hydroloav
GREEN RIVER HYDROLOGY
Flow records for the Green River at Jensen have been kept
since 1946. Total annual flow data in acre feet for this gauge
is presented in Figure 2.
Green River at Jensen
6
5
n
F-
l~
U
>~ 4
J ~.,
L- c
03
J
Q
Z
Z
Q 2
J
Q
H
O
H
o -}--
1.945
1950 1955 1960 1965 1970 1975 1980 1995 1990 1995
Figure 2. Total annual flow (acre feet) by water year for the
Green River at Jensen, Utah. The total for 1993 is estimated
since complete data for-the later portion of the summer were not
available at time of analysis.
The data in Figure 2 indicate that large differences in
total flow occurs between years, especially in the 1950's, early
1960's and mid 1980's. The late 1960's and 1970's show
remarkable similarity from year to year. Total annual flow on
the Green River ranges from 1 to more than 5 million acre feet,
with the largest water years in the period of record occurring in
1983, 1984, and 1986, and the lowest flow year being 1963. We
assume that the low flow for 1963 was due to the filling of
6
