calculated = 4.32). At the 95% confidence interval, the difference in mean
weight = 2.25 +/- 1.02. These results indicate that there is a difference
between the two groups of fish with respect to growth (TL and weight). The
fish from pond #2 had better growth than the fish from tanks #1 and #2.
However, the fish from tanks #1 and #2 were able to survive better than the
fish from pond #2. The statistics mentioned above should be double checked
prior to publication.
After weighing and measuring the fish were held in tanks #2, #3, and #4
until 16-18 May 1988. During this period tank #2 water temperatures varied
from 11-12.50C, and dissolved oxygen levels ranged between 4-7.4 ppm. The
fish were fed a total of 3,284 grams of commercial trout diet and seven
mortalities were recorded. The water temperature in tank #3 was 11.00C and
dissolved oxygen levels varied between 3.2-7.5 ppm (Appendix D). The fish in
tank #3 were fed a total of 4,223 grams of commercial trout diet, and no
mortalities were recorded. The water temperature in tank #4 was also 11.00C
and dissolved oxygen levels varied between 3.3-6.8 ppm (Appendix Q. The fish
in tank #4 were fed a total of 2,572 grams of commercial trout diet, and 107
mortalities were recorded. Most of these mortalities appear to have been
caused by various bacteria and parasites. Evidently, fish were again sent to
Federal Disease Control Center at Fort Morgan, Colorado for analysis. These
fish were found to have been infested by Ichthvobodo (Costia), Pseudomonas
putrifaciens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aeromonas hydrophila, Aeromonas sobria,
and Klebsiella oxytocoa. Also, some of the fish had gas bubble accumulations
behind the eyes (Letter 2). Thus, a total of 114 mortalities were recorded
during this time period. It is interesting to note that only 7 of the
mortalities were from fish that had overwintered in pond #2. The remaining 107
mortalities were from fish that had overwintered in the tank #2.
