ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This study was funded by the Recovery Implementation Program for Endangered Fish
Species in the Upper Colorado River Basin. The Recovery Program is a joint effort of the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Western Area Power Administration,
states of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, Upper Basin water users, environmental organizations,
and the Colorado River Energy Distributors Association.
Susan P. Holman's and Jared Farmer's photographic contributions were an essential part
of this study, and great thanks goes to them for their hard work and expertise. Additional thanks
to Dennis Willis and the Bureau of Land Management's Price Ranger District, for their
willingness to provide logistical support and access to these canyons. Numerous dedicated
technicians also made significant contributions to this project, and special thanks and
appreciation goes to them. Megan Barker, Michelle Brink, Anne Howard, and Dale Munson
deserve special thanks for their efforts as technicians, and for the support they have given as
friends. Most importantly, special thanks and appreciation goes to my wife and daughter, Amy
and Sonora Orchard, for sharing with me the beauty of Desolation Canyon.
A-vii
