YOY chub habitat <br />Low velocity habitats in the three sampling strata were sampled under a variety of flows. The <br />majority (48.3%) of YOY sampling trips (Appendix Table 3 marred when the Colorado river <br />was flowing between 2500 and 5000 cfs, which corresponds with the late summer period when <br />most YOY chubs (75% of the total catch) were collected. The range of sampled flows however, <br />was 2030cfs (29 July 94) to 40000cfs (22 June 95). <br />Above the Ccnryon <br />As discussed in the study area section the three sampled strata varied greatly geomorphically. As <br />would be expected habitat availability varied as well. Upstream of Westwater backwaters were <br />abundant and accounted for 85.5% of the area sampled during the months of July and August, <br />1992-1996 (Table 6). Secondary channels were the only other frequently (9.3%) sampled habitat <br />followed by a variety of types which in the aggregate comprised the remaining 5%. <br />Table 6.
