DRAFT3
Methods
Two 16 lcm (10 mile) reaches in the upper and lower Green River portions of the standardized
monitoring sections were selected for sampling, based on high catch rates of YOY squawfish
during ISMP sampling in these areas. This report covers the lower reach: River Kilometer (RK)
91.7 to 75.7 (River Mile [RM] 57 to 47) on the Green River, Utah (Figure 1). Comparative NH
reaches on the Colorado River are also shown. The annual reporting schedule has followed each
cohort of squawfish through their first year of life, beginning in the summer (post-spawn), and
ending the following spring just before the flood season The spring flood resets the system in
terms of both habitat and the fish community. A minimum of three sampling trips were executed
each year in early spring, late summer, and early fall.
~•~...
' ,~~ CO RM 6555
_ GR RM 577 ~ .
~•
CO RM 3d20
GREEN RNEA
DORADO RIVER
Figure 1. 1992-1996 mnserybabitat study areas.
