•
interruption of utilities necessitated by the project would- occur
at the Boyer Ranch as a result of constriction of the spillway.
3.28 The utilities necessary for operation of the dam,
electricity and telephone services, are available as far up the
valley as the Boyer Ranch. Thus, extension of these utilities to
the project would not be a major consideration.
CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE
3.29 Special considerations that would affect the work schedule
for the proposed Sandstone Dam and its auxiliary structures
include the elevation of the project and the expected climatic
conditions at that elevation. Considering the scope of work to
be performed, it is anticipated that construction work would take
three construction seasons to complete ($WEC, 1986a).
3.30 Following the spring flows of the first construction
season, work would be started on the diversion structures. .First
season work would alto include excavation end treatment of
abutment foundations. The diversion structures should be
completed by the beginning of the second season for immediate
access to the valley bottom section of the dam foundation.
During the second season, the foundation would be prepared- and
grouted, and construction of the embankment would continue until
winter weather forces a halt. During the third season, the
embankment would be completed, the diversion closed off, and the
reservoir would begin to store water. At the same time the
outfall structure and spillway with their stilling basins and
connecting channels would be completed.
•
3-10
